Tony’s unabashed hero worship didn’t stop with racing. After experiencing the 1936 Olympics as captured in the film ‘Olympia’, Tony found a second passion – that of professional sports photography. Tony chose sports because there is significant participation involved – the photographer must train for the sport of the subject athlete – to capture the mountain climber on the ascent, the cyclist emerging from the pack, the center suspended in air for a fleeting moment. And at some point, artist and athlete intersect in an explosive combination of aesthetics and athletics. As propaganda persuades people through images, perhaps nothing is more powerful than human perfection.
